We want young Roma to be heard more. Not from the audience, but from the position of those behind major cultural events. We already have experience with this. Over the past 10 years, thanks to the "Khamoro Shares Experience" program, we have trained dozens of young Roma from the Czech Republic in cultural management and taught them how to organize Khamoro, the largest Roma festival in the world. Now it's time to share our know-how further—with all the countries of the Visegrad Group. It's not just about new knowledge. It's about young Roma gaining self-confidence, being proud of their origins, and becoming true leaders.

Diversity comes in many forms and languages – and that’s exactly what gives it the power to connect people across cultures, generations, and borders. We are proud to be part of the European project Sound of Diversity, which connects cities and local communities across Europe with the aim of promoting equality and respect for minorities.

We motivate and support Roma children and youth to discover how education can change their lives. Through the Avela project, we provide pupils and students not only with tutoring and mentoring but also with a wide range of leisure activities that help them develop their potential and broaden their horizons.

The Romani Holocaust is one of the darkest chapters of Romani history, yet, it is not widely discussed. Through an exhibition, an educational program, and a theatrical performance, we aim to confront this historical injustice and reflect on contemporary understandings of Romani history and the Holocaust in the Czech Republic.

Violence against women needs to be talked about! This is especially true in the Roma community, where this topic has been a long-standing taboo and is often downplayed. In five Czech cities, we will, among other things, make Roma women aware that domestic violence is in no way part of Roma traditions and that has no place in any society. As relevant data on violence against women in the Roma community is still missing in the Czech Republic, we are also planning to conduct research.

Our world has witnessed many historical injustices against the Roma: from the tragic Romani Holocaust through restricted rights, to the absence of Roma representation in the arts, or the non-existent teaching of Romani history. Thanks to the principles of transitional justice, the international Jekhipe project revisits painful moments in Roma history, to name them and restore Roma people their dignity. In addition, it focuses on addressing systemic barriers that Roma constantly face in everyday life.

The Khamoro World Roma Festival presents Romani culture to the general public from the CZ and abroad in all its dimensions and forms. It proves that Romani culture is a full-fledged part of the Czech and world cultural heritage.

The Romani women's group Manushe is an informal group operating under the banner of Slovo 21 since 2000. The group’s motto is "Education, self-confidence, emancipation”, and it develops its activities in this spirit.

Since 2017, we have been continuously raising awareness about Roma literature and supporting Roma women and men writers in their creative work. Roma literature remains overlooked not only within Roma communities but also in Czech society as a whole. Our goal is to change this – we organize literary readings, engage in media activities, and, most importantly, we actively work with authors from the Paramisara writers’ club.‍

Slovo 21 is a member of the Ergo NETWORK, as one of 31 non-governmental, non-profit organizations from 20 countries working in the field of Roma inclusion. .In addition to the employment campaign, we focus on strengthening the capacity of small local Roma NGOs.

Based on the prototype of the female Roma group Manushe, local groups of girls aged 14-18 were established. Like the older members, the young girls are given space for self-realization. The more senior group members motivate them, encourage them to participate actively and to take part in events or campaigns.

The project will establish a new full-time Roma advisor at the Prague 3 District Office. The Roma advisor will make a significant contribution to the integration of the Roma community in this region where this minority is the largest national minority. Behind every cultural event lies the effort and enthusiasm of those who bring it to life. In more than 25 years of organizing the World Roma Festival Khamoro, we have accumulated a wealth of experience – and now, we are passing it on. We provide young Roma man and women not only with knowledge but also with real-life practice in cultural management, so that they can one day confidently and professionally carry out their own cultural projects in the future.

Our new project therefore has a simple goal: to strengthen the expertise of our employees through various training sessions and workshops, making their work as efficient as possible.
